Elk Grove Towne Criers Shine at Harmony CompetitionThe Elk Grove High School vocal ensemble, Towne Criers, under the direction of Renee DeJager, participated in the Young Men in Harmony and Young Women in Harmony Competition, held at Barrington High School on Feb. 11, with outstanding results. Elk Grove's women's ensemble sang "Puttin' on the Ritz" and "Shenandoah," both four-part treble arrangements. The women's ensemble received 1st place in Sound and 1st place in Showmanship, receiving an overall ranking of 3rd place. The men's quartet, consisting of tenor Kevin Quatman, lead Pat Connaghan, baritone Andrew Popa, and bass Nick Grisetto, came in 2nd place, narrowly missing being named Grand Champion by just one point. The quartet was coached by adjunct Elk Grove voice faculty member, Stephen Collela. The men's quartet did, however, qualify to compete at the State Young Men in Harmony Competition, which will take place in Peoria, Ill., on Saturday, April 21. |
