How it is used by the body:

Valine has a stimulating effect and is needed for muscle metabolism, repair and growth of tissue and maintaing the nitrogen balance in the body.  Valine is also an energy source in the muscles and preserves the use of glucose.  It is benefical in treating and reversing hepatic encephalopathy which is alcohol related brain damage as well as degenerative neurological conditions.

Effects if this Nutrient is not present:

This amino acid is extremely hydrophobic and are found in the interior of the proteins.  They are not useful in routine biochemical reactions but they determine the 3-D structure of proteins.
