What is American Studies? American Studies is a full year course offered at Elk Grove High School and designed for students who want to experience the combined study of literature, United States history, and American culture. It offers the unique opportunity to explore the progression of American society and to better comprehend the honor and responsibility which accompany American citizenship. The course lasts two periods and students receive a double grade equivalent to two courses. Both United States History and the one semester courses, American Literature Survey and Expository Writing, cover the same major historical periods and major novels. However, American Studies approaches the study of both of these areas from an interdisciplinary point of view. Please click on the class contract for additional information. |
