What is
World Studies? World Studies is a full year course offered at Elk
Grove High School
and designed for freshman students who want to experience
the combined study of literature, history, and culture. It
offers the unique opportunity to discuss world philosophies,
to read literary masterpieces and to explore the ages.
Students should leave this course with a clearer
understanding of humankind and the accomplishments which
have lead to our current world community. The course lasts two periods and students receive a double grade equivalent to two courses. Both World Studies and the one semester courses, World History and Introduction to Literature, cover the same major historical periods and major novels. However, World Studies approaches the study of both of these areas from an interdisciplinary point of view. Please click on the class
