Expectations as a Club Member . . .

In order to be an Orchesis member, a two-part commitment is required. The Orchesis class meets every day during eighth period and receives a Physical Education credit. The orchesis class is devoted to building dance techniques, dance as an art form as well as building a knowledge of Physical Education, Health, and Physical Fitness.

Additionally, Orchesis is an afterschool/club commitment. The highlight of the clubŐs afterschool commitments ends in the spring Orchesis Big Show. The dance troupe begins to practice in September with practices increasing during the winter months. Attendance is MANDATORY during practices leading to the Big Show production. Doctors appointments and college visits need to be scheduled aroung the dancerŐs scheduled rehearsal time!

Fall and spring athletes MAY NOT perform with Orchesis during their athletic season. Fall and spring performances are optional, however!

The following is a partial list of requirements which dancers are responsible for:

 

black jazz shoes

black leotard

black capris

black jazz pants

camisole

make-up

dance notebook

ponytail holders

males: white short sleeved T-shirt

The following is also required by ALL members ~~

  • Attendance @ rehearsals
  • Attendance at Illinois State Dance Festival
  • Participation in ALL fundraising projects
  • Transportation to/from all rehearsals
  • Additional/personal items necessary for health/safety of dancer
  • (i.e., extra leotard, dance shoes, etc.)
  • Maintain a ŇCÓ average -- NO FŐs, not more than 2 DŐs!
  • Maintain proper ettiquete dance ettiquete - towards staff !!!
