Class of 1977 Reunion
30-Year Reunion Event
Greetings Grens!
Our EGHS 30th reunion will be Saturday, Sept. 29th, 2007. That's Homecoming weekend at EGHS and we have two days of festivities planned just for you! The Homecoming football game is Friday the 28th - we'll have an Alumni Tent and the school will be open for tours. After the game we'll gather somewhere and start the reminiscing, most likely at Jake's (now Pope's). Especially since our party on the 29th is at Fox Run, we're thinking of having a golf outing earlier in the day on Saturday. Let us know if you have any interest in that!
Any questions? E-mail Sue Dahlstrom Randall at DRAND360@aol.com. Also, please email Sue your e-mail address if you have never received any communication directly from her.
UPDATE ON EGHS 30TH REUNION (aka “Grenapalooza ‘07!”)
Yes, the 30th reunion is fast approaching, and we’ll be sending out all of the official information via “E-vite” very soon. Besides our last ditch plea/groveling/begging attempt to get some of you to fork over some classmate e-mail addresses that we’re just SURE you have (c’mon! what are you waiting for? send them our way TODAY! pretty please?), we also wanted to give you some new details for the big weekend.
As we’ve mentioned before, the festivities will start on Friday, September 28th at the Homecoming football game at EGHS. Don’t bother stopping to have a cigarette in the “smoking area”—it’s gone! But there WILL be an Alumni Tent and the school will be open for tours. Afterwards anyone and everyone is welcome to stop by Jake’s—now Pope’s—and have a pop or two in the bar section which is reserved for us.
Saturday morning there will be a “best ball” golf outing at Fox Run (333 Plum Grove Rd. in Elk Grove) with Fred Aguayo in charge. Questions? Reservations? Contact Fred at ssman13@aol.com. The reunion party (attire? anything goes, but probably most will be casual or dressy/casual) begins in the clubhouse at 6:00 p.m. We’ll be serving a delicious buffet dinner with two entrees, plus a Jarosch Bakery sweet table, and have a great DJ to play your old favorites the whole night—yep! we’re talking, “Shake Your Booty” time. Speaking of the whole night, here’s an exciting new development we wanted to share with you . . .
HEY YOU! GET A ROOM! Literally! We’ve arranged for a block of rooms at the Country Inn & Suites in Elk Grove at the corner of Devon and Rohlwing—just a few miles from Fox Run. The block is under the name, “EGHS Class of ’77 30th Reunion” (how clever is that?), and the room rate is $99 per night (regular rate is $119) with breakfast included. Call 847/985-0101 and specify that you want to be in the block. There are a limited number of rooms, so it’s first come, first served! The best part of staying there? There will be a shuttle for hotel guests to take you TO and—most importantly—FROM the reunion. The reunion ends around midnight, but the fun doesn’t necessarily have to end, too! The RealTime Sports Bar and Grill is conveniently located about 10 steps—yes, you can walk/crawl/stagger—from the hotel and is open until 3:00 a.m. Naturally we have a special area set aside for us!
We are also putting together a classmate information book. One idea we had to help offset costs and keep our reunion ticket price down was to sell ad space in the book. If you have a business and would like to support the book, please e-mail Mary Banach at msunshine59@yahoo.com. The ads will be business card sized, and are $50.00 each. Larger ads can be arranged and priced accordingly—“accordingly” actually meaning that we have no idea what we would charge you but we’re sure something could be worked out! If no one buys an ad, maybe an alternative would be to take bribes NOT to reprint your senior picture? Don’t worry—the coast is clear--we’re actually not planning on printing them anyway!
We’ve really tried to make this a fun weekend with plenty to do for everyone, and hope we have a great turnout. OH! We almost forgot. What will it cost you to attend this shindig? A mere $50! Of course golf and the hotel are extra. But compared to the Class of ’76 reunion last year that was $87, and the Class of ‘87 reunion this year that’s $91, we’re thinking this is a pretty good deal! So whaddya say . . . pick up the phone and call an old classmate—perhaps even one you haven’t seen in a long time?—and say, “let’s go”. This truly is a “more the merrier” situation—we need YOU to make it a great weekend to remember forever. As Boston sings, “It’s Been Such a Long Time” and YOU really should be going! “Do You, YOU, Feel Like We Do?” We’re feeling pretty excited about this! We hope you plan on coming and talking about the “Old Days” as Chicago sings. Just always remember, “You’ve Got a Friend”! These reunions are “Precious and Few” so say you’ll come! Questions? Contact Sue Dahlstrom Randall (DRAND360@aol.com) or Becky Rieken Hauser (rebekkahauser@comcast.net). And when that E-Vite comes you’d better be “Takin’ Care of Business”!
Sincerely,
Your reunion co-chair:
