This year’s Homecoming Week for the Elk Grove High School Grenadiers (Sept. 23- Sept. 29) is "Welcome to the Grenfield Zoo: Where the Wild Things Are!" The week is jam-packed with events.
On Sept. 24 students will wear camouflage, and the Kickoff Classic will begin at 6:30 p.m. in the stadium. "Class Color T-Shirt Day" is Tuesday, Sept. 25. Boys JV soccer will begin at 4:30 p.m. and the varsity will play at 6:30 p.m. An Ice Cream social will follow the game.
"Animal" dress-up day will be on Thursday, Sept. 27. The carnival and bonfire will take place at 5:30 p.m. on the baseball/soccer field.
Friday is "Green & Gold Spirit Day" and the student body will be wearing school colors and Homecoming T-shirts. The Coronation Ceremony takes place from 2:30-3:30 p.m. in the gym. The Alumni Wall of Achievement Reception at 3:40 p.m. in the EGHS library. The alumni to be honored are Bill Beaupre (’84), Cheryl Dial (’79) and Kitty Vanderweel-Weiner (’79).
The sophomore football game begins at 5 p.m. in the stadium, followed by a mini-parade at 6:30 p.m. in the Stadium. The night will conclude with the varsity football game vs. Wheeling High School at 7:30 p.m. in the stadium, and the alumni will be recognized at halftime. There will be fireworks following the game.
Saturday caps off the week with the freshman football game at 9 a.m. The Homecoming Dance will be held from 7:30-10:30 p.m. in the gymnasium.
