Debate Team
What
The Elk Grove Debate Team participates in Congressional Debate. We simulate the format and consider the issues of the United States House of Representatives.
When
The debate season runs from September through April. We practice 1-2 times per week and compete on Friday and Saturday nights once per month.
Where
We practice in room 249 and compete at high schools and colleges across the State of Illinois.
Why
Debate is a competitive speaking activity that provides participants an opportunity to develop speaking, researching, argumentation, and networking skills. Colleges look at debate experience very favorably because debaters develop important higher level thinking skills. Also, because we attend tournaments all across the state, you will meet many other students from other schools who share similar interests as you. Finally, debating is FUN!
How
See Mr. Phillips in room 232.
