Senior Daniel Baker, Selected as Golden Apple Scholar

Daniel Baker, a senior at Elk Grove High School, has been selected to be among the 100 members of the Golden Apple Scholars of Illinois Class of 2008. The Golden Apple Scholars of Illinois is a highly competitive program that seeks the best and brightest of Illinois youth interested in pursuing a teaching career. Those selected receive advanced teacher preparation through summer institutes that give them early practice and exposure to the art of teaching. They also earn financial assistance for college.

The Golden Apple Scholars program selected Baker from more than 1400 nominations. The selection process evidences the excellence of the Scholars chosen. It also reflects wonderfully on the school system that prepared them.

Baker and the other Scholars will attend a reception celebrating their award on Saturday, April 12, at DePaul University’s Lincoln Park Campus.
