Congratulations to our National Merit Scholars

National Merit Students

Elk Grove High School is proud to recognize those students who qualified for the 2008 National Merit Scholarship Program, sponsored by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC). Over 1.4 million students who took the 2006 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT) last October and entered the National Merit Program, a nationwide competition for recognition and award. In early September, students in the semifinalist and commended category were notified.

We are proud to announce that seniors Adam Dewitt and Dan Stevens have just been recognized for the National Merit Finalist standing in the competition by meeting additional academic standards, as well as other requirements. This places these two seniors in the top 1% of the more than 1.4 million students in the nation who participated in the 2008 National Merit Scholarship competition.

Four Elk Grove High School students have been named Commended Students in the 2008 National Merit Scholarship Program.  The recipients are Rebecca Craig, Thomas Dittmeier, Victor Panfil, and Andrew Scheffel.

National Merit Commended Students throughout the nation are recognized for their exceptional academic promise.  These four Commended Students placed among the top five percent of more than 1.4 million students who entered the 2008 competition by taking the 2006 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test.

Hats off to our Elk Grove High School students who were named National Merit Finalists and Commended Scholars in the 2008 National Merit Scholarship Program.  They are distinguished by their strong academic performance in this rigorous competition.

A Letter of commendation from our school and the National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC) will be presented to these scholastically talented seniors at an Honors program scheduled for May 1st.
