Elk Grove High School is proud to recognize those students who qualified for the 2009 National Merit Scholarship Program recognition.  This program is sponsored by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC). Over 1.4 million students who took the 2007 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT) last October, entered the National Merit Program, a nationwide competition for recognition and award. In early September, students in the semifinalist and commended category were notified.

We are proud to announce that seven Elk Grove High School students have been named Commended Students in the2009 National Merit Scholarship Program. The recipients are Matthew Bizjack, James Boffice, Timothy Deck, Jay Patel, John Redding, Thomas Tasche, and Joseph Wimmer.

National Merit Commended Students throughout the nation are recognized for their exceptional academic promise.  These seven Commended Students placed among the top five percent of more than 1.5 million students who entered the 2009 competition by taking the 2007 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test.

Congratulations to our Elk Grove High School students who were named National Merit Commended Scholars. They are distinguished by their strong academic performance in this rigorous competition.
