Welcome to Elk Grove High School, a public four-year comprehensive high school with 2100 students. The U. S. Department of Education recognizes us as a Blue Ribbon High School, and Newsweek and U.S. News and World Report note us as one of America’s best high schools. 94 percent of our graduates pursue post-secondary educational opportunities.

Our curriculum promotes learning through well-articulated, rigorous instructional courses and programs.  Our comprehensive academic offerings include twenty-three Advanced Placement courses, dual credit college offerings in business, engineering, and architecture, and certifications in computer technology. We also offer our students a chance to explore a wide variety of electives including: Foreign language studies in Japanese, Italian, French, and Spanish; the pre-engineering Project Lead the Way program; music, fine arts, and journalism programs; and a variety of career related certifications including the Pro Start Food Service Program and Automotive Training Program through the National Automotive Technicians Education Foundation.

Complementing this are our rich and varied co curricular activities with twenty multi level athletic programs and over sixty clubs. Our sports teams have competitions ranging for beginners to those vying for state championships. Our clubs span Autos to Tech Crew. We have an exceptionally vibrant fine arts program where students can explore and develop their talents in art, vocal music, band, orchestra, and drama. Whatever a student’s interests, there are activities in which he or she will thrive.

"Excellence in all we do and excellence for all we serve" is our motto. We continually work to achieve this through standards driven instruction offered in a nurturing environment. Our goal is to give our students the tools for success and happiness whether they are pursuing post secondary education or going directly into the work force. We accomplish this by focusing on individual student needs and creating a plan for success for each student. We are proud that we were the first school in the State to be recognized with the RAMP (Recognized Model Program) distinction awarded by the American School Counselor Association.

EGHS is located in a community of families twenty-two miles northwest of downtown Chicago. Our area has experienced continued growth and economic prosperity since the early 1950’s largely due to the diversified and well planned industrial complexes located in the communities we serve.

A school does not exist by itself and cannot be successful by itself. Only when the students, teachers, and parents work to the common goal is true success achieved. We are proud that is our model and that is our history. We look forward to your continued support as we prepare our students for the challenges of the coming years.

Sincerely,
Nancy M. Holman
Principal
