This tutorial will show many of the options within the Preferences window. Not all options in each window will be addressed in this tutorial.

1. To access the Preferences window, click on the Edit pulldown menu and click on Preferences...

2. The Preferences window will open to the General tab.

3. The General tab window allows the user to set 214 Access as the default Internet mail client and the location of the download folder.

4. The Connection tab window allows connection settings to be adjusted. It is not recommended that these settings be changed unless directed to do so by your building Computer Coordinator or Technology Systems Supervisor.

5. The Calendaring tab window allows the user to show the week number on their calendar and to set the first day of the week in their calendar.

6a. The Editing tab of the Content window allows the user to adjust the default text style and spell checking preferences.

6b. The Display tab of the Content window allows the user to set other text default settings for quoted and linked text.

7. The Viewing tab window allows the user to adjust the order the items are viewed in and which items are shown in the user mailbox.

8a. The Mail Rules tab of the Messaging window allows the user to set up automatic replies to messages, to automatically forward messages to another email account, and to automatically decline junk mail.

8b. The Signature tab of the Messaging window allows the user to create an electronic signature to be attached to messages. Click here to learn more about electronic signatures.

8d. The Paging tab of the Messaging window allows the user to forward messages to a text capable pager.
