The certified school nurse establishes and maintains a comprehensive school health program which meets the existing needs and identifies future needs of the school community. Major components include supervising student compliance with physical and immunizations regulations, health counseling, vision screening, emergency care for illness and/or injuries, and evaluating and recommending educational adaptations for students with medical/physical limitations.
ATTENTION PARENTS:
A new IDPH requirement, prompted by a whooping cough outbreak, requires all students to be immunized for tetanus, diphtheria and pertussis or show proof of a previous Tdap vaccination prior to the start of school 8/21/13, regardless of the interval since the last DTaP, DT or Td dose. Students will be excluded from school if this requirement is not met. Contact your physician to obtain the appropriate documentation and contact the School Nurse if you have any questions.
