PSAT and SAT

The PSAT/NMSQT is an optional exam for high-achieving juniors and sophomores. It measures verbal reasoning, critical reading, math problem solving, and writing skills important for success in college.

The PSAT/NMSQT (Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test) will be administered at Elk Grove High School on Wednesday, October 10, 2018.

Why take the PSAT/NMSQT?

  1. We encourage juniors who are in the top quarter of their class to take the PSAT because it identifies National Merit Scholars for the class of 2020 and enables students who score at the highest levels to qualify for college scholarships.
  2. The PSAT can also be used as a predictor for SAT scores. It allows students to compare their academic skills with those of other college-bound students.

More information about the PSAT/NMSQT from the College Board is available here

Online registration will be open August 15 - September 7 (the registration link can be found in the "Trending" section of the EGHS website) or download the registration form and return to the Assessment Center with the $30 fee by the September 7th deadline.

The SAT is one of the two most common college entrance exams. Most colleges and universities accept both the ACT and SAT.
